Socrates Safo

Socrates Safo is a film writer, director and producer. He is the current Director of Creative Arts for Programmes and Projects at the Commission for National Culture, under the Ministry of Arts, Culture and Tourism of the New Patriotic Party Government.

As a founding member and former PRO of the Film Producers Association of Ghana (FIPAG); Socrate has served the Ghanaian Movie Industry with wholeheartedly. He produced many movies and as well trained most of the industry players.

He was a resource person for Berlin Cultural Department to conduct several video production workshops; participated in the African Film and video conference at the University of Urbana-Champaign, Illinois, USA in 2000; and also, at the Long Island University, Columbia University, University of St. Thomas, University of Minnesota and Michigan State University where his expertise was employed for video making.

Producing his first movie at age 19 titled, ‘Unconditional Love’ in 1989 under his Movie Africa Production; Socrate Safo has since directed and produced movies including ‘Kyeiwaa’, a movie with 12 episodes, ‘Love and Sex’, ‘Hot fork’, ‘Crazy Love’, ‘Adults Only’, ‘Sexy Angel’, ‘Last Virgin’, and ‘Amen’, a few to mention.
